Welcome
The 2nd Annual DRH Workshop will be held on 21-22 February 2008 in Beijing, China. The workshop is planned under the framework of the Disaster Reduction Hyperbase-Asian Application (DRH-Asia) Project (project period: July 2006-March 2009). The National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention (NIED), Japan and Beijing Normal University (BNU), China, will co-organize the Workshop.
The purpose of the Annual DRH Workshop is to conclude the year 2 of the DRH - Asia Project and to establish perspectives for next fiscal year as well as the years to come. The major part of the project is supported by the Japanese government as part of efforts for implementing the Hyogo Frame for Action established in the UN World Conference on Disaster Reduction, January 2005.
The project is managed by the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention (NIED: HQ in Tsukuba) and its Earthquake Mitigation Research Center (EDM-NIED: located in Kobe). We are operating the Project under close international collaboration with ISDR, EC/JRC, Beijing Normal University, NSET-Nepal, SEEDS-India, IIEES, Kyoto University and other major collaborating institutions. In the context of such collaborations, the 2nd Annual DRH Workshop is hosted by Beijing Normal University.
The Venue will be the International Exchange Center of BNU.
